DEXLab Mission

Drive the digital research and education community at SBE and provide a space for research, learning, and knowledge exchange around user’s digital experiences in business environments.

Plan, organise, make available, and promote reuse of digital equipment and facilities for research and educational projects to all researchers and educators at the SBE and beyond.

Help to understand and addresses tomorrow’s technological challenges and societal problems.

DEXLab Operations
Lab Activities provided by the Lab Manager:

The Team
The DEXLab was founded by a group of enthusiastic researchers and educators at the SBE with a common interest in digital experiences, emerging technologies, and cutting-edge research methodologies.

Noah Moonen
Lab Manager & Lecturer for Marketing & Supply Chain Management
Noah Moonen is a tutor in the fields of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands.
His experience primarily comes from teaching several courses at SBE, such as Digital Supply Networks, Mobile Innovation & Marketing and many more. This has sparked both his interest in education as well as in emerging technologies. Additionally he has experience in digital videography and editing.
In his capacity as Lab Manager, he will help coordinate and facilitate the DEXLab’s daily operations.

Roberta di Palma
PhD Candidate in Virtual Reality for Education
Roberta Di Palma is a Doctoral Researcher and Coordinator of the DEXlab at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands.
Her research is focused on technology-enabled learning and transformative services with Virtual Reality. She is a NRO Comenius Teaching Fellow and coordinator of several education innovation projects aimed at improving digital literacy, soft skill training and teamwork at Maastricht University.

Dr. Jonas Heller
Assistant Professor Marketing & Supply Chain Management
Jonas Heller is is Assistant Professor in Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands. He completed his PhD in Marketing at the University of New South Wales.
His research investigates how emerging digital technologies (such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality) impact customer experiences when consuming products or services. In particular, his research studies how new forms of data visualization impact customer’s cognitive and affective responses and how these responses translate into behavior for financial decision-making. His research is methodologically driven by experiments, A/B testing, and field studies, and has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Retailing, the Journal of Service Research, the Journal of Interactive Marketing, and the Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing.

Dr. Tim Hilken
Assistant Professor Marketing & Supply Chain Management
Tim Hilken is Assistant Professor in Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands.
His research focuses on the user experience of emerging technologies in consumer and industrial markets. He has published his research in leading academic journals such as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management. In his capacity as lead experimenter for AR at Maastricht University, he is constantly in touch with current technological developments and conducts regular laboratory and field studies with the latest applications and devices.

Prof. Dr. Dominik Mahr
Professor of Digital Innovation
Head of Department Marketing & Supply Chain Management
Dominik Mahr is Professor of Digital Innovation & Marketing, head of the department Marketing & Supply Chain Management, and the Scientific Director of the Service Science Factory at Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
His research focuses on the human side of digitalisation, including the implications of digital data and technologies for customers, organisations and society at large; it has been published in leading scientific journals including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Service Research, Research Policy, MIS Quarterly, and the Journal of Product Innovation Management. Prior to his academic career, he worked for several years as a consultant in the automotive and high-tech industries.
