Meet our first international intern!

Hello everyone,

My name is Moritz Wigger and I am an exchange student from the Armed Forces University in Munich, Germany. Here in Maastricht, I got the opportunity for an internship at the DEXLab for five months to do research for my master thesis.

As a Management & Media (MM) student I focused in my masters on XR, because I am always surprised by what chances and opportunities this technology brings us. With my master thesis I want to explore the different forms of interaction with holographic content. Luckily, the DEXLab has a fantastic array of technology that allows me to experiment and conduct exciting research for my thesis.

I was born and raised in Leverkusen, Germany. After graduating high school, I decided to take a big step at the age of 17 and join the army as an officer cadet and enlisting for 13 years. After joining the light infantry, I did my basic training for six months in Hammelburg, a little town in Franconia. After that I attended the Army Officers’ School in Dresden, afterwards I served another 4 months in a light infantry battalion in Hessia.

All these hurdles successfully mastered, I could attend the Armed Forces University in Munich in 2019. Furthermore, in summer 2022 I got the chance to visit the University of Texas in Austin (Hook’em Horns!). During my two months in the United States, I’ve learned a lot, not just in academic terms, but also about the people and the country itself!

In my free time I am a passionate triathlete! Currently I am training for my first Ironman, taking place on 4th of June in Hamburg. From all three sports I love running the most, especially together with my girlfriend. I also played football for 15 years and I am a big fan of Bayer Leverkusen. I am also a big coffee lover and made my myself a mission to explore all the nice cafés here in Maastricht (recommendations welcomed).

So that’s me! Thank you DEXLab for giving me this opportunity to be part of this team until the end of august! If you have any questions feel free contact us via dexlab@maastrichtuniversity.nl
